EPC (Evolved Packet Core)


Overview

EPC is a comprehensive platform suite for building LTE packet core networks, designed to deliver advanced intelligent services with defined security levels for 4G operators.

The EPC solution is optimized for modern flat IP network architectures, providing high throughput and low latency. It reduces network operational costs while enabling real-time multimedia services with enhanced quality of service. EPC can interwork with legacy 2G/3G networks via external SGSN.

EPC manages all 4G network components, including macro, micro and pico base stations, as well as user devices. It provides flexible service control, efficient resource utilization, mobility management, security, routing and packet forwarding.

The EPC portfolio includes:

  • MME
  • SGW (Serving Gateway)
  • PDN GW / GGSN
  • Optional HLR/HSS and PCRF

Each component can be deployed independently or as part of a turnkey EPC solution. A single node supports from 1,000 to 1,000,000 concurrent subscribers, with load distribution across multiple nodes.
