The Gateway Location Register (GLR) is a 3GPP-compliant roaming optimization platform designed to improve signaling efficiency for inbound roamers.
GLR stores inbound roamer profile information during initial registration and responds to subsequent VLR requests locally, significantly reducing signaling towards the HPLMN. This approach improves registration success rates and reduces dependency on external signaling providers.
